Scratched Into Our Souls

Beat Connection – ‘Surf Noir EP’ | July 16, 2010

Day two of southern California’s first real heat-wave of the summer is decidedly more humid and muggy than yesterday (at least, down here in the Los Angeles area it is). Going outside is something akin to stepping into a sauna, and I don’t think anybody in their right mind likes heavy humidity mixed with heat.

To try and beat the heat today, I’ve got a simple suggestion: check out the newly released 8 track EP from Seattle-based duo Beat Connection, titled Surf Noir. This 8 track EP is aptly named, as it features 28 minutes of beach-ready, sun-drenched grooves and hazy pop. Listening to Surf Noir could be likened to waking up from a nap on the beach, with the summer sun beating down upon you as your eyes struggle to adjust. There are vocal samples, propulsive beats, chill wave styled ambiance, and plenty of summer imagery to keep you going for another day.

One of the best parts about the album is that you can download it for FREE from Bandcamp here. The price is right, the weather is right, so what are you waiting for? Give it a shot, and let the chill waves and sunny pop wash over you, brah.

  1. I was definitely in the middle of writing a few thoughts about this EP for my blog. Damn.

In other news, I love the EP!
